The Subjection of Women is a cry of protest against the injustices of existing British institutions and a plea for political, legal, and educational reforms. This volume contains a sample of the resulting literature. Of particular interest is the fact that, among the critics and reviewers who responded to The Subjection of Women, one may find a number of the most eminent of the women intellectuals of the period.
