An affluent legacy spanning across almost the etirety of the social sciences entitles Izmirli to a rank among the profoundest and most multifaceted scholars of the Constituonal and Republican eras, which were densely tarred with political and philosophical turmoil. Many of his works are the first compilations of their kind in Turkey, added to which is the no doubt more coveted accolade of being the founder of Islamic philosophy in Turkey in the disciplinary sense, a propounding most saliently characterized by sophisticated and often intricate philosophical lexis. As aforementioned, Izmirli was not so much a philosopher who propounded a distinct system, as an encyclopedic who compiled an array of workds across vast fields of inqury. Any disparaging hint this diagnosis may allude to is quickly obliterated once one remembers that Izmırlı simply had no scruple to devise a system of thought, as it would have perhaps been redudant with respect to his overarching intent of appraising Islamic and Western thoughts through critical, philosophical, exhaustive and rational spectacles, to provide the grist for the mill of an Islamic Revival.
