Enver Paşa was an Ottoman officer and leading Committee of Union and Progress figure whose career stretched from the 1908 constitutional movement to the Balkan Wars, the First World War, and his final campaign in Central Asia. Enver Paşa'nın Trablusgarp Günlüğü records his experience during the 1911-1912 Italian invasion of Ottoman Libya, where local resistance, clandestine travel, military organization, and political ambition intersected. A diary is a valuable first-person document, but it is not a neutral or complete history: it reflects what its writer knew, chose to record, and wanted associates or later readers to understand. Claims about military success, local alliances, and opponents must therefore be compared with Ottoman, Italian, Arab, and later scholarly sources. Enver's later role in wartime government and policies affecting Ottoman Armenians is central to his historical biography and cannot be omitted or softened.
