Eduardo Galeano, born in Montevideo, Uruguay, is a journalist, historian, caricaturist, and political activist who is best known for Memory of Fire, a fictive historical triology of the Americas from the first native myths to modern times. Mr. Galeano said that "the reality of Latin America is more fantastic than the lies we’ve been told, and nothing is more horrible or poetic than the truth."
