Özet
"The People" is the draft of Malamud's last novel set in the Wild West. An unhappy tribe of native Indians adopt a happy-go-lucky Jewish pedlar as their chief. In his bizarre new role, Chief Jozip undergoes the same humiliations as his tribe. Other short stories are included.
