On September 9, 1922, the Kuvayi Milliye army entered Izmir and achieved victory. Fifty days after that victory, on 1 November 1922, the Sultanate was abolished. The Lausanne Conference was in progress. Nothing was clear: What would happen to the caliphate? Would a republic be established? What would be the religion of the state? How would the Kurdish problem be resolved? In this book the reader can read in a modern Turkish adaptation how Atatürk answered these questions 100 years ago during a five and a half hour long meeting with the editors of Istanbul newspapers in İzmit.
