Theaetetus by Plató is a philosophical dialogue devoted to the question of what knowledge is. Socrates tests several answers in conversation with the young Theaetetus, but each attempt is revised, challenged, or shown to be incomplete.
The dialogue is less about reaching a tidy conclusion than about exposing the difficulty of defining something as basic as knowing. Plato’s method depends on careful pressure: examples are proposed, examined, and broken open by logic. The conversation keeps returning to limits, mistakes, and the gap between opinion and insight, which gives the work its energy. Theaetetus rewards readers who enjoy seeing thought unfold in real time, because the book treats uncertainty as part of philosophical discovery rather than as a failure to think clearly.
