Moods is Louisa May Alcott's first serious novel, published in 1864. The story centers on Sylvia Yule, a passionate, strong-willed girl who becomes embroiled in a love triangle with two men - who Alcott modeled after Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. Moody and inexperienced, Sylvia chooses the wrong man...and must learn to live with her decision.Though one of Alcott's lesser known novels, it is an important work.
