Overview
The Art of War was written between 1519 and 1520, and it is a treatise with the format of Socratic dialogues, which take place in the Orti Oricellari, the famous Florentine Renaissance gardens. It is considered one of the most important work of Machiavelli.<br> The Art of War is divided into a preface and seven books. The theories exposed are based on Machiavelli's direct experience. He served for fourteen years as secretary to the Chancery of Florence. The work has had a lot of influence on military theory, and Jefferson had Machiavelli's Art of War in his library.<br>
