More than 70 years after the end of WW2, many people continue to wonder about the nature of Hitler’s magic spell, by which he managed to persuade Germans to follow him even when it had become evident that the war would be lost. Apart from his totalitarian regime, this apparently lay in his superb oratory which captivated his audiences. The present two volume set with Hitler’s wartime speeches allows for a closer examination of their content, offering readers an opportunity to draw their own conclusion as regards the Fuhrer’s political and military aims and expectations. Volume one contains 26 speeches covering the period of Hitler’s “European war”, from the first day of the war (September 1, 1939) to the beginning of Operation Barbarossa (June 22, 1941).
