A long poem comprised of nine titled sections written by Yannis Ritsos in Athens in 1943. The poem begins in Monemvasia and moves to Athens during the famine at the time of the German occupation. The poem also arcs from passive observer to vigilant political engagement. Not surprising for Ritsos, the poem is rich in the everyday surreal. If you are curious about the price, this book was hand printed using metal type and printing press at Red Dragonfly Press. The text paper is Zerkall and the wraps are handmade Khadi Cotton from India. This edition is limited to 110 copies.
