by John Muir
In 1880, John Muir made his second trip to Alaska. On this trip he explored Brady Glacier with a friend's small dog, Stikeen. Muir and Stikeen almost perished on this epic adventure as they navigated through a maze of crevasses. Stikeen became a favorite story and Muir told it many times before finally writing it down in 1909. This story is considered Muir's best and certainly ranks as one of the greatest adventure stories ever written. Stikeen appeals to both adults and children alike.
