
Rabindra Nath Tagore, the Nobel laureate and composer of two national anthems, was not a writer in traditional national mould. He was a partisan to world equality and solitariness. Though most of his works were written in Bengali, he cannot be seen as if tied to a linguistic frame, on this account. He has written many novels, poems and short stories.
