Nesbit’s ghost stories for adults contains the following short stories: The Ebony Frame John Charrington’s Wedding Uncle Abraham’s Romance The Mystery of the Semi-Detached From the Dead Man-Size in Marble The Mass for the Dead The book was first published in 1893 as Grim Tales.<br/><br/>The story “Man-Size in Marble” is the inspiration for BBC TV’s 2024 “Ghost Story for Christmas” called “Woman of Stone”.<br/><br/>Edith Nesbit (1858–1924) is best known as an author of children’s books, with Five Children and It, The Phoenix and the Carpet and The Railway Children being among her most beloved works. It is not so well known that Nesbit also wrote at least eleven novels and numerous short stories for adults. This book, however, features her most chilling ghost stories.
