Wise Blood is a dark comic southern gothic novel about the sensible blood hazel motes by Flannery O'Connor, who is a disillusionment war veteran, who returns home determined to reject Christianity and proves that life has no spiritual meaning. Announcing the preacher of the "Church Without Christ", Hazel traveled to the rail against religion, while it became obsessed with it, a false Prophet and an artist of grotesque characters, including a manipulating road preacher, faced an artist. Their efforts to avoid faith lead to violence, self-punishment, and eventually a contradictory redemption. Through cutting satire and vivid symbolism, the novel examines the subjects of faith, fanaticism, and draws unavoidable grace in the world immersed in sin and doubt.
