Sarah Stevens is a woman of many distinct qualities. Skilled at running large households smoothly, she is also a trained bodyguard and expert marksman - indispensable to her employer, and elderly judge. Then one night she thwarts a burglary and her story in the local press captures the attention of a tortured soul who will stop at nothing to have her for himself. When she becomes the suspect in a murder case, Sarah tries to carry on her normal life, not realising that a deranged stalker is luring her into an elaborate trap from which she may never escape.
