First published in 1897 as chapter twenty-three of the novel Equality, Edward Bellamy's short but prescient analysis of the morality of capitalism in the style of Jesus of Nazareth has long been a popular work with American economic reformers, and was reissued as a leaflet in Chicago and Pennsylvania into the 1920s. This edition includes cartoons by Udo J. Keppler, Thomas Nast, and Albert T. Reid.
