Dr. Abbott's extraordinary style and method are well known from his seven volumes of Diatessarica , or studies in the gospels. In the present volume, he sets forth an extended summary of the evidence for the meaning of the term "Son of Man" in the prophets, the later Jewish literature, and the New Testament. He follows this with "A Harmony of the Facts" in ten short chapters. The learning and originality of the discussions are undeniable. In general, Dr. Abbott's contention is that Jesus' use of the term is in line with that of the prophets, rather than with that of later literature; and that he persistently used the term to fix attention upon the divine image in which man had been made, and which he sought to restore in all men, by the Spirit of God. -- The Biblical World , Vol. 34
