The Dead Rule

The work that concerns us, "the dead rule", takes place in the Balearic Islands - Mallorca and then Ibiza -. It tells the story of a young man from a good family who has fallen apart. The splendor of its lineage comes from the Catholic kings, but in the 19th century it collapsed. The only possibility of maintaining that past apogee is to marry a young Chueta - a Majorcan Jew - despite the disgrace that this entails among the Christian population.
