Josephine Tey is one of the best-known and best-loved of all crime writers. She began to write full-time after the successful publication of her first novel, The Man in the Queue (1929), which introduced Inspector Grant of Scotland Yard. The book combined all the six crimes, The Daughter of Time, The Franchise Affair, Man in the Queue, To Love and Be Wise, The Singing Sands and A Shilling for Candles. In 1990, The Daughter of Time was selected by the British-based Crime Writers' Association as the greatest mystery novel of all time; Her another one, The Franchise Affair was 11th on the same list of 100 books.
