Refik Halid Karay was an influential Turkish journalist who was sent into exile not once but twice by the late Ottoman and early Turkish Republican governments for his biting criticisms of both regimes. A prolific and controversial writer, he was also an author of fiction, and his work continues to be read across turkey. However, he is little known outside his home country. This collection of short stories, the result of collaborative translation by the Translation Attached Translators collective, brings his fiction to an English-reading audience for the first time.
