Overview

This book aims to help you see in the same way as Vincent van Gogh has seen, but then to develop your own style. Vincent's secrets are not in his words, they are in his works. Look at his drawings, the lines, the light, the shadows, the composition, the contrasts, the details. His drawings tell us what we cannot see but need to know and that should be enough. The goal of this book is to make drawing more accessible and more fun for everyone. There are so many theories about the drawing's techniques but the book will show you how to get dose to the art of drawing in a number of ways. You will quickly learn what is important, how to use a set of techniques and you will see examples of drawings in detail. Of course, your experience will dictate what you can do with each technique, but don't let that bother you. If you are more advanced, push yourself to master these ideas and make them work for you. If you are less advanced, try them and experiment with examples here. You will have successes and failures, and both will help you become better in the art of drawing. Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) drew thousands of images to better his style. He believed that drawing was "the root of everything" and completed over 1,000 drawings from 1877 to 1890.
