Charlotte Perkins Gilman self-published her literary magazine, The Forerunner, from 1909 to 1916. The magazine contained fiction and non-fiction works of all lengths, often taking a feminist and socialist slant. The goal of the Selected Works from The Forerunner series is to provide the reader with the best of The Forerunner, pleasantly arranged and easily at hand. Through careful selection and arrangement, the reader can experience the important, insightful, humorous, and entertaining without having to review the magazine in full. Selected Works from The Forerunner: 1914 contains 12 opening thoughts, 13 poems, 7 sketches, 5 essays, 14 editorials, and 5 short stories, as well as collected comments and reviews; and it is light enough to allow easy carrying and reading.
