Overview

This is a Book on Leadership and 7 actions you can take now to improve your organization and career. If you want to be on the career fast track or in management seeking to develop talent, this is for you. It starts with two maxims 1) When in Command take charge! 2) Do what you say you’re going to do! Lessons Learned, Stories Told, Experiences Shared. I tell a story about an aircraft carrier operating in the Mediterranean Sea, a real-world event in the Middle East in 1976, an attack and rescue of Americans. The book includes early life challenges, transition to the Navy, conflict in Lebanon, the Pentagon, and military and business leadership from a war room to boardroom perspective. I refer to experiences, education, aviation, legendary leaders, sports champions, and leadership concepts to help others. Don’t let your background hold you back. You can be successful, and I share stories on how. Charles Williams is a retired Rear Admiral with 32 years of service and command experience. He was appointed by the President as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, appointed by the Missouri Governor to a defense installation commission, and as an advisor to a Congressman on the Armed Services Committee. He is President of Commercial Realty LLC, a brokerage and investment company, and a corporate board director. He was an adjunct professor at St Louis University. Media appearances include CNN, PBS, Podcast, and radio shows. He is a public speaker and writes on national security issues. (williamschas.com) He earned a MBA from St. Louis University and attended executive programs at Harvard, University of Virginia, University of North Carolina, Center for Creative Leadership, and Army and Navy War Colleges. Chuck has written an excellent leadership book capturing the qualities every successful leader should possess – in business or military. His book is a "must read" for every young or seasoned professional who leads an organization. Greg Slavonic, Rear Admiral USN (Ret.) Former Acting Undersecretary of the Navy Author of “Leadership in Action” Chuck was a mentor in my real estate career. He took the time to provide valuable feedback. Tips offered in this book will help anyone wanting to improve. I strongly encourage reading the stories he shares for motivation. Dean Mueller. Former Executive Cushman Wakefield Having served with the Admiral on a large corporate board I appreciate his keen insight. His ability to look at issues outside of traditional business was a real value and captured in his book. J. Tullos Wells, Law partner, Board director, Former San Antonio Spurs General Counsel
