Taking place in the fictional town of Ambrumésy, Arse'ne Lupin finds himself up against a high school student-cum-amateur detective, Isidore Beautrelet. The 'Hollow Needle' is said to contain a secret that has been passed down by the French kings of old, and brings together treasure and fortune untold. Young Beautrelet finds the Château de l'Aiguille near Crozant and on the banks of the Creuse, and thinks he has found the solution to the treasure's whereabouts. But Lupin, under the guise of Louis Valmeras, knows better!
