About the Author Regarded as one of the best writers of hs generation, Cem Akas was born in Mannheim, Germany, in 1968, to Turkish parents. He and his family moved to Turkey in 1974. He has a BS in Chemical Engineering, an MA in Political science, and a PhD in Turkish History. He has published over twenty novels and collections of short stories, and is an accomplished translator. He has been making his living as a publisher for over 20 years. Akas lives with his wife and son and two cats in Istanbul.
