Aladdin is an impoverished young ne'er-do-well, dwelling in "one of the cities of China". He is recruited by a magician from Arabia, who passes himself off as a merchant and promised Aladdin and his mom that they would never get poor "But has a negative reason for recruiting Aladdin". After the magician attempts to double-cross him, Aladdin finds himself trapped in the cave. There and then, he meets Genie who releases him from the cave so that he can return to his mother. Thereafter, he turned Genie's master.
