Lee Falk

Lee Falk (1911–1999) was an American comics writer, playwright, and theatre director who created Mandrake the Magician and The Phantom. He introduced Mandrake in 1934 and developed The Phantom for King Features in 1936, building a masked hero whose identity passes through generations and appears immortal to outsiders. The Phantom: The Complete Newspaper Dailies preserves the serial rhythm in which Falk’s plots were first read, with cliff-hangers, recurring enemies, and long narrative arcs. Comics Revue Presents The Wedding of the Phantom gathers a major event from that continuing mythology, whereas Don Newton's Complete Phantom highlights a later visual interpretation of the character. The newspaper dailies are the most useful foundation because they reveal Falk’s pacing and world-building in their original form. The wedding collection then shows how personal continuity operates inside the larger legend.
