Courtney Miller Santo's fiction explores family, inheritance, memory, home, resilience, and the stories attached to places passed from one generation to another. The Roots of the Olive Tree uses a family line and a long-lived landscape to examine what relatives preserve, conceal, and reinterpret. Under the Olive Tree returns to the symbolic space of roots and shelter, concentrating attention on continuity and change.

Three Story House makes a building part of the narrative's emotional structure, connecting repair with the relationships unfolding inside it. In these works, a home is never merely a setting: rooms, trees, and inherited objects hold competing versions of the past. Santo's characters must decide which parts of that inheritance offer strength and which must be reconsidered before a different future can be built.
